4.3 M Floridians To Get New Medicare Cards Next Month

Check your mailboxes Florida residents because your new Medicare card is coming soon.

Federal health officials are mailing the new cards in geographic waves so Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina are also getting new cards along with 4.3 million Floridians.

The new cards are free and will be automatically mailed. The cards should arrive by the end of September. They won't have your Social Security number on them anymore. The cards also have new features to help beneficiaries detect and avoid identify theft and scams.

There are no changes to Medicare benefits.

Federal health officials warned that consumers can avoid scammers by knowing that true Medicare representatives will never call people asking for any personal information, including Social Security Numbers, bank information, or to pay for the new Medicare card.
